Researchers Cloak a 3D object

For the first time researchers have been able to cloak a three dimensional object, but only in the microwave region of the EM spectrum. Using a shell of plasmonic materials, it is possible to create a photo negative of the object being cloaked in order to make it disappear. The technique is different to the use of metamaterials, which try to bounce light around the object. Instead, plasmonics try to deceive the light as to what's actually there at the time.

Plasmonic materials are composed of metals and insulators that are ordered in geometric arrangements with dimensions that are fractions of the wavelength of light. Research groups have being experimenting with a variety of geometric approaches, but all were aiming to exploit surface plasmons, which are light-induced packets of electrical charges that collectively oscillate at the surfaces of metals at optical frequencies.

Most of the high-profile invisibility cloaking efforts have focused on the engineering of metamaterials, modifying materials to have properties that cannot be found in nature. The modifications allow metamaterials to guide and channel light in unusual ways - specifically, to make the light rays arrive as if they had not passed over or been reflected by a cloaked object.

New Nintendo Network

Nintendo has finally confirmed its plans for the Nintendo Network, a formal, branded service for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

Unlike Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which has been focused upon specific functionalities and concepts, Nintendo establish a platform where various services are available through the network for their consumers  to be connected via Nintendo Network service so that the company can make comprehensive proposals to consumers.

Nintendo will now allow personalized accounts for its next home console, which will allow multiple users per system. Online profiles will no longer be system-based

Nintendo is exploring the idea of selling full retail games through the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The company is not willing to say when this program will start, but it now has the full ability to do so.

Publishers will now be able to offer paid DLC for different games, starting with Square's Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, which will allow players to purchase new songs for the rhythm-based game. The title releases in Japan on February 16.

As a software maker, Nintendo believes that its packaged software should be sold to their consumers in a form so that they will know in advance that they can enjoy playing the software they purchased just as it is,  Nintendo believe that their consumers will be able to feel more secure if  the company offer their add-on content as an additional structure in which those who love the game will be able to enjoy it in a deeper way for a prolonged play time.

Xbox 720 rumors

For the moment nothing is certain, principally because there absolutely no official announcement, and due to the market, it will not be very clever to lunch a new Xbox, but there is already some shared rumors on the internet.

It has been told that the next Xbox will ship to retailers in late October or early November of next year with six times the processing power of the Xbox 360 and will yield 20-percent greater performance than Nintendo's forthcoming console, the Wii U.

It also  has being say that  mass production of the system's GPU will begin by the end of 2012 but will not, however, be based on AMD's 7000 series Southern Islands GPU, instead, the processor will be derived from the 6000 series, which was introduced last year. More specifically, it will offers support for DirectX11, multidisplay output, 3D and 1080p HD output.

The Xbox 720 may limit exactly what kind of games you're allowed to play, it will have some kind of anti-used-game enforcement. There's no explanation of what that means, but speculation surrounding the issue says the console could outright reject used-games altogether.

We will update you if there is any news on the subject.

The Lifebook is a laptop computer concept based on the principles of shared hardware. Nowadays a lot of hardware is wasted because their is different kind of them but there is always some repetition on their features and data storage.

The product is not even in the development stage, the only thing that is ready though is the design which has been done by Prashant Chandra, but if something like that comes out, it will be revolutionary.

Megaupload shut down, hacker group Anonymous declare war

After a highly coordinated action of the FBI with the help of the authorities of  New Zealand, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Australia and the Philippines, eight key members of Megaupload, were arrested, including its director, Kim Schmitz, also known as Kim Dotcom and the web site will be permanently shut down. The department of justice says it was one of the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought by the United States.

The accused will face extreme consequences, they are facing 20 years in prison for racketeering, five years for conspiring  to commit copyright infringment, 20 years for laundering, and five years on each substantive charge of copyright infringement.

The web site  is responsible for $500 million in losses to copyright holders and more than $175 million in illegal profits from advertisements and premium memberships. Megaupload had more than 150 million registered users and 50 million daily visitors.

The Reactable

The Reactable is a new electronic musical instrument that can create and perform more recent music, like techno, trance and other.

the Reactable works is deeply inspired by modular analogue synthesizers. Reactable’s pucks represent the building blocks of electronic music, each one having a different functionality in sound generation or in effect processing.Connections between the pucks are managed automatically based on their types and affinities and on the proximity between them. As a result, one can construct any specific setup quickly and on the fly, by simply moving the pucks and bringing them into proximity with each other. Additionally, the resulting sonic flows are represented graphically on the table surface always showing the real waveforms that travel from one object to the other.

It use a called tangible interface, allowing the musician to control the system by manipulating the tangibles objects that are around the table, and by putting, connecting and tune this object, so possibilities of combinations are infinite. The blue screen of the table is also multi-touch, allowing several performers at once, and as a matter of fact, it was created for that.

The Reactable’s four main groups of modules include sound generators, sound filters or effects, controllers and global objects. The sound generators generate sound that can be changed by the filters. Controllers, which include modules such as low frequency oscillators or step-sequencers, can dynamically modify the behavior of the objects they get connected to, while global objects affect global parameters of the table, such as the beats per minute, the volume or even the harmonic structure. All of the parameters involved in these processes can be controlled by turning the objects like knobs, as well as by attaching controllers to them.

Finally, there is also an App for iPhone and Android that allow you to play Reactable on your phone.

Watch this video bellow to see the Reactable in action:

New iPad 3 will be released this year

It is almost certain that the new iPad3 will be released early this year, and with some improvement from is predecessor.

The iPad3 will come with the latest iOS 5, which will host the multi-touch gesture technology. However, analyst predict that Apple would introduce OS X Lion for the tablet, since it will be powered by a quad-core processor. This will also include multitasking features, such as notifications, task-finishing, app-switching, location and background sound.

The iPad3 will have a A6 Quad-core Processor, this would make it as powerful as any high-end desktop. It is expected that the A6 will be a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 design, which would be competitive with next year’s best mobile processors. Fabricating Apple’s A6 in 28nm (instead of the 40nm process Nvidia is using for its quad-core part) will reduce both die cost and power, yielding a much better product.”

It will also have the Retina Display feature, the screen resolution of the iPad3 will be 2048 x 1536 pixels. However, it is said that the third version of the tablet is delayed due  to Retina Display issues, and Apple is expected to ship the tablet in early 2012.

the iPad3 will also have the iCloud technology. With iCloud users can store photos, apps, calendars and access songs on iTunes without having them to store in the phone’s memory.

It will come with an improved camera, since the previous version of the table didn’t seem impressive enough. Unlike the iPad2, the new tablet will come with LED flash to support the camera. It will have a 5MP camera with 1080p or 720p video recording quality of 60 frames per second. The technology made by OmniVision will help reduce the size of the table by 20 percent.

Finally, Apple has already been granted patents on this technology, and is working real hard to make the iPad3 fingerprint proof. The touch screen will be coated with oleophobic materials, which will reduce the oil and fingerprints on the screen.

New iPhone 5 release date rumors

There is a lot of rumors on the Internet about the iPhone 5, but none of those rumors or confirmed, but giving the history of the previous iPhone, it is quite possible that the 5 will be released between mid or fall 2012, and will be call the iPhone 5SJ, in honor of Steve Jobs.

The iPhone 5SJ will have the latest and best A5 processor chip, it contains a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU with NEON SIMD accelerator and a dual core PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU, which means that the iPhone5SJ can do twice the work at once. The processor speed will be somewhere between 1.2 to 1.5 GHz, with probably a 1GB RAM.

Is dimension may be: 4.33″ x 2.36″ and .27″ thickness at the top and .21″ at the bottom, whereas the dimensions of iPhone 4 are: 4.5″ x 2.31″ x .37″. Some sources say that Apple is planning to increase the screen size to 4-inch with higher screen resolution. Apple could compromise at 3.7-inch or 3.75-inch, I think.

Finally, the iPhone 5SJ will have the iCloud service, witch will allow users to store photos, apps, calendars and documents without having them to store in the phone’s memory.

New Nitendo Wii U

This is the Wii U, the new console of Nintendo, some kind of a pioneer in its generation because of its controller.

The controller is some kind of a second screen, a bit like the Nintendo portable consoles, you will have the main screen, your TV, and a secondary screen, your controller, it will have a 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope, speakers and microphones, a front facing camera, an IR sensor strip, a 6.2 inch (15.7 cm) 854x480 FWVGA 16:9 resistive touchscreen, 2 circles pads and 1 D-pad.

The Wii U CPU will be design by IBM. It is described by IBM as an "all-new, Power-based microprocessor",the processor will be a multi-core design manufactured at 45nm with an eDRAM cache. Although neither Nintendo nor IBM have revealed detailed specifications, such as the number of cores, clock rate, or cache sizes, references to the chip containing "a lot" of eDRAM and "the same processor technology found in Watson" indicate that the processor shares some characteristics with IBM's POWER7 processor, which powers the Watson computer system and incorporates a large L3 eDRAM cache, but nothing is certain yet.

the console itself will have an SD memory card slot, 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 in the back and 2 in the front, a sensor bar power port, an AV multi out port and an HDMI 1.4 out port.

but the great thing about the Wii U is that it will be compatible with the Wii Remote, Wii Nunchuck, Wii Classic Controller, and the Wii Balance Board. It has been announced through Nintendo Network that the Wiimote will still be used not only for Wii games, but as a new way to combine it with the experience brought by the tablet controller.

So what do you think of Nintendo new console?

3D, good or bad?

In the last few years, the 3D technology took a huge step. From movie theater screen to your little Nintendo 3DS, it is now possible to have every kind of screen having 3D. Now the big question is, is 3D good or bad for health, specially, the eyes?

Well if we start by the side effects, its definitely not good, headaches, blur vision, nausea dizziness and so on, but on the good side, certain scientist says that people can realize faster that they have eyes problems, and may help them too take care of it.

In my opinion, I will definitely wait a few more years before having any kind of 3D screen, just looking a few seconds on a 3DS give me a headaches and my eyes start to hurt. I think that we lack information on the effects it can cause because it is so recent.

I am sure that in a few years, there will be betters studies about it and the technology will improve, so for  the moments, a think we cannot answer this question 100% right.
